Musk to Build a New Social Media Platform?
Voiced by Amazon Polly

Social media has its own pros and cons. While it helps business and artists grow, it can also facilitate rumours, hate speeches, and many such dangerous things. Usually, social media platforms have their own set of rules and regulations to tackle such situations, but there have been a few too many instances where the policies were lopsided. Elon Musk, owner of Tesla, has been critical of Twitter’s approach of late, and also has commented that the platform is undermining democracy and not allowing free speech.

Recently, a Twitter user asked Elon Musk if he would give it a shot to programming a social media app on an open algorithm, with negligible propaganda and primary importance given to free speech. Replying to this tweet, CEO of Tesla Inc, Elon Musk revealed that he indeed is giving it a serious thought. Interestingly, a day before this revelation, on Friday, Musk had asked his followers in a poll if they think Twitter allows the practice of free speech. Not so surprisingly, about 70% of users voted negatively for this poll.

Following Musk’s revelation, if he goes through with his thoughts, he will join the bandwagon of tech giants like Meta, Google, and Twitter itself. But, other endeavours like TruthSocial, Gettr, Parler, Rumble have all been unable to keep with these giants in terms of user base and popularity. But this is not the first time Musk received contemplation. His SpaceX received some uncertainty from the people, but we all know where the company stands today. SpaceX stands for Space Exploration Technologies Corp and it manufactures aerospace related products. What is so big about SpaceX is that it also provides transportation in space. It has already successfully launched Starlink, which is a satellite internet constellation, which aspires to provide internet access to the remotest areas on Earth. So Musk being Musk, he might as well pull it off.
