The United States-based tech MNC, Apple Inc, is said to be hindering the growth of the Metaverse. Matthew Ball, who is the founder and former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ball Metaverse Research Partners, as well as Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Venture Capital (VC) and private equity firm, Epyllion Co, has expressed his views on the matter.

It is believed that the Metaverse is a field of computer technology that is making an appearance and will lead the way to the next stage of the internet.

A study made by Washington-based Pew Research Center found that more than half of all the technology developers and innovators believe that by the year 2040, the metaverse would have become even more pervasive in every individual’s day-to-day lives.

Apple Inc seems to be in a state to prosper in the coming era of greater immersive technologies, however, its dominance in the distribution channel is constraining the market. The tech giant does not permit virtual worlds that are based on cryptocurrencies and therefore is effectively restraining a particular category and style of innovation that is disruptive. According to Matthew Ball, Apple Inc is exercising improper authority over what is and is not at hand by avoiding intricate virtual worlds.

The American company sells more of its smartphones, i.e. the iPhone, domestically than it does internationally. It has a huge chunk of profits coming from being in control of the software on its platforms, specifically Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), that act as a link between different applications. Furthermore, apps for Apple’s iOS platform must be approved by Apple Inc and even pay a fee to the tech giant.

Apple Inc is in a unique position to influence the course of every sector, however, it does not always make the best decisions. Crypto-based games such as CryptoKitties, Axie Infinity, Sandbox 3D, and a couple more are just among the few on Apple Inc’s App Store.

Matthew Ball made a statement saying that in the next few years people will find themselves regularly within a 3D simulation, possibly not even realize it most of the time. Nevertheless, this would be possible only if Apple Inc does not hold back the development of the metaverse at present.
